Positions in Wearable Sensing for Urban Mobility(f/m/d) *
Full-Time | Up to 4 years | On-site in Linz (AT) | Start Date: 1st May 2026
Field of Research and Scope:
- Multimodal analysis of physiological data from wearable sensors
- Machine-learning based algorithms for stress and emotion detection in physiological data
- Methodologies for quantifying the impact of urban environmental features on individual stress
- Interaction with urban mobility planners to support policy-making in active mobility
Your tasks and responsibilities:
- Conceiving and writing grant proposals for third-party funding
- Conducting research
- Writing academic publications
- Supporting science communication activities
- Attending national and international conferences
- Collaborating with other research groups on an interdisciplinary basis
- Performing auxiliary activities in academic teaching for up to 2 weekly credit hours
- Complying with the institution’s academic standards and ethical guidelines
Your strengths and skills:
- You must have completed a PhD degree (or an equivalent) in geoinformatics, computer science, mathematics, physics, computational neuroscience, or other relevant fields.
- Excellent communication and social skills are required for working in an interdisciplinary and dynamic team as well as for conducting research independently.
- Collaboration on publications with other members of the team is expected, aiming to publish in high-profile international journals and conferences.
- Fluent in English

The contract is 20h / week from university funding with another 20h / week for 2026 secured funding. From 01.01.2027 onwards, the contract will be 20h / week from university funding with potentially up to 20h / week from successful grant applications.
